Kim Crawford
Kim Crawford is one of New Zealand's most internationally recognized wine producers. Based in Marlborough, the company makes a large range of wines sourced from multiple regions around New Zealand. Kim Crawford's most notable wine is its Sauvignon Blanc, which is the most popular New Zealand wine sold in the United States. Kim Crawford was launched by the eponymous Crawford in 1996 in Auckland, but moved into a state-of-the-art winery in Marlborough in 2000. In 2003, Crawford sold the brand to Canadian company Vincor – the same year the Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc first made Wine Spectator's Top 100 List (it has since been included several times). The following year, Vincor was acquired by Constellation Brands, the current owner of the Kim Crawford label. Kim Crawford and his wife Erica now own the Loveblock label, also in Marlborough. While the vast majority of the fruit is sourced from Marlborough, a maritime-influenced region in South Island, Kim Crawford also sources fruit from other sites around the country including Gisborne, Hawke's Bay, Canterbury and Central Otago. There are two different ranges of wines: the flagship range and the Small Parcels range, which is made from the best plots in the vineyard and only in the best years. Sauvignon Blanc is Kim Crawford's most popular variety, but wines are also made from Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir. In fact, Kim Crawford was one of the first New Zealand producers to make an unoaked style of Chardonnay.
