Azienda Agricola Dino Illuminati is a wine producer situated in the Abruzzo DOC region of Controguerra. The family-owned estate was founded by Nicola Illuminati in 1890 and today has grown to comprise 130 hectares (320 acres) of cultivated vineyards within the province of Teramo. On an annual basis, Dino Illuminati produces more than one million bottles of wine from vineyards located in the Controguerra DOC, Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo DOC and Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Colline Teramane DOCG winemaking zones. The regional red wine portfolio is dominated by Montepulciano, and includes several riserva wines and a single passito. After harvest, the grapes are macerated in stainless steel tanks and, following malolactic fermentation, are aged in Slavonian oak barrels for 6-30 months (depending on the wine). The majority of Dino Illuminati's white wine range consists of Trebbiano-predominant blends, with smaller quantities of Passerina and Chardonnay, as well as Riesling, Garganega and Malvasia. Dino Illuminati also makes a small selection of varietal wines from Pecorino and Passerina, in addition to late harvest, frizzante and Metodo Classico wines.
