Description:
NHB. Black cherry, smooth tannic paste, finely balanced and softly textured. There's a lack of depth and distance on the palate that seems a bit remiss, however. Was this a lighter vintage? Richard Hemming MW
Drinking beautifully now, this Bordeaux blend from Craggy Range keeps getting better year after year. Subtle, layered with notes of cedar, cassis and blackberries. This is a beautifully composed red and is one of the best Bordeaux blends made in New Zealand.
As usual a ridiculously heavy bottle from this producer. Perhaps aimed at the American market? A Bordeaux blend that includes Petit Verdot. Dark lustrous crimson. Very complex, multi-layered nose. Definitely Kiwi with marked sweetness at first and then notable acidity - no carbon copy of bordeaux - but grown up with a dry not drying finish. Satisfying. Does taste like sucking stones on the finish. A strong statement. Appetising. Not yet ready. Jancis Robinson
Winery:
Craggy Range
Craggy range began with the desire to create a legacy when Terry Peabody visited New Zealand in 1997. Terry sensed an exciting possibility in New Zealand, the exceptional climate and spirit of the people aligned with his own philosophy and desire to cut a new path. He wanted to create wines that would become internationally regarded as New World classics. Today Craggy Range is without a doubt one of the most prestigious wineries from New Zealand, and well-reputed for its high quality wines, it surely does not come to a surprise that Craggy Range was crowned ‘New World Winery of the Year 2014’ by the Wine Enthusiast.
