Description:
Love the savory spices and gamey notes on this meaty, serious Syrah from Craggy Range. The wine has depth, layers and firm, ripe tannins. It is reminiscent of Hermitage in its structure and flavor profile.
Fermented in a mix of open-top oak vats and stainless-steel fermenters prior to 18 months' maturation in French oak barrels. Unnecessarily heavy bottle with a huge punt. Inviting peppery aroma with darkest of cherry fruit. Both floral and peppery on the palate with a dry, dark peppery texture but super-subtle. Dusty/stony finish and the finest of tannins. Winery:
Craggy Range
Craggy range began with the desire to create a legacy when Terry Peabody visited New Zealand in 1997. Terry sensed an exciting possibility in New Zealand, the exceptional climate and spirit of the people aligned with his own philosophy and desire to cut a new path. He wanted to create wines that would become internationally regarded as New World classics. Today Craggy Range is without a doubt one of the most prestigious wineries from New Zealand, and well-reputed for its high quality wines, it surely does not come to a surprise that Craggy Range was crowned ‘New World Winery of the Year 2014’ by the Wine Enthusiast.
