Description:
Decadently sweet fruited and richly textured. The density of the wine is counter balanced by bright acidity and supple tannins.
Rich cherry and plum fruit that is spiced with oak notes of cinnamon and clove.
Sitting below the fruit, earthen and mineral smokiness, which is lifted by hedonistic floral notes,

Cloudy Bay winery was established in 1985 by David Hohnen, the founder of Margaret River winery Cape Mentelle Vineyards. Cloudy Bay’s 140 hectares (350 acres) of vineyards are located at three sites in the winegrowing region of Marlborough, including areas close to the bay for which they are named. The region is noted for its production of Sauvignon blanc wines.[2] The vines are planted on deep alluvial gravels. Five long-term contract growers also work closely with Cloudy Bay. Cloudy Bay produces Chardonnay and Pinot noir wines, but the Sauvignon blanc remains its standard-bearer.
