Chateau d'Aussieres
Château d'Aussières is a Languedoc wine estate owned by the Domaines Barons de Rothschild group, which also owns Lafite Rothschild. The château is situated in the Narbonne region and primarily focuses on the Languedoc grape varieties of Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Carignan, but also includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay within its grape variety portfolio. The estate has played an important role in the wine production of the Narbonne province since the Roman Empire. By the 1930s, the estate's vineyards comprised a total of 270 hectares (667 acres). However, the 1950s was a period of downturn for the Languedoc, and d'Aussières suffered severely under this decline. When the château came under the management of Domaines Barons de Rothschild in 1999, the estate was extensively redeveloped. Around 167ha (413 acres) of the original vineyards were replanted and a new winery was constructed in its old wine cellars.
