Description:
The windmill of Brown brothers, from which this wine takes its name, has been on the site for more than 150 years. The mill used to pump up groundwater for irrigation in the vineyards. Today it is a symbol of the pioneering spirit of the Brown family and their constant dedication to making exceptional wines.

Brown Brothers
Brown Brothers is a family-owned Australian wine producer that has been making wine in Milawa in Victoria's King Valley for more than 125 years. Along with the ubiquitous Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon wines, Brown Brothers is known for experimenting with unusual grape varieties, and makes wine from Glera (Prosecco), Cienna, Tarrango and Muscat of Alexandria, among others. The company was established in 1889 by John Francis Brown, and today is managed by the third and fourth generations of the Brown family. Brown Brothers owns vineyards in Milawa, Blanksdale, Mystic Park and Heathcote in Victoria, as well as in the Hazards and Kayena in Tasmania. The 60-hectare (148-acre) Milawa vineyard in the lower reaches of the King Valley is Brown Brother's home vineyard, and was first established in 1885. It is planted to Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, Dolcetto, Graciano, Mondeuse, Shiraz and Chenin Blanc, which are used in the estate's landmark Patricia wines. It is also the location of the estate's winemaking facilities and Kindergarten – a mini-winery dedicated to the production of experimental wines. Brown Brothers takes advantage of different soils and climatic conditions at each of its vineyard sites to produce a wide range of grape varieties. Vineyards in Heathcote are planted to classic red varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Merlot as well as Spanish and Italian varieties like Tempranillo, Montepulciano and Nero d'Avola. Many of the company's more experimental varieties are planted at the estate's warmest site in Mystic Park, within in the Murray Valley. This vineyard covers 281ha (694 acres) of land, and is planted to Cienna, Tarrango, Flora and Crouchen. Brown Brothers also has around 300ha (741 acres) in Tasmania, planted to Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris. The company is a member of Australia's First Families of Wine, along with other well-known names like Yalumba, D'Arenberg, Tahbilk and Henschke.
