Enrique selects agave predominantly from his highland hometown of Atotonilco el Alto, a region revered for its premium agave. This añejo expression is a testament to Enrique's innovative approach. The tequila is initially aged in used Cabernet Franc wine barrels from France's Loire Valley for a minimum of 14 months, infusing it with distinctive notes. It is then transferred to toasted American white oak barrels, previously hosting Canadian whiskey or Tennessee rye whiskey, for at least another 14 months. This dual aging process creates a masterful balance between oak and agave flavors. The tasting notes of ArteNOM 1146 reveal its rich complexity. The color is a deep, rich amber, indicative of its refined aging process. On the nose, it presents a delightful blend of butterscotch, citrus, baking spices, and vanilla, a testament to its layered maturation.
