The winery was founded in 1983 by British tycoon Sir Peter Michael. He has made a 100-year commitment to producing world-class wine equal to the finest of Bordeaux and Burgundy on a square mile of rocky volcanic ridges perhed 2,00 feet above sea level on the western face of Mount St. Helena in northern California. Each bottle of Peter Michael wine is simply labeled "Mountain vineyards, classical wine making, and limited production".
