The palate is greeted by a vibrant cranberry entry, followed by fine, well-structured tannins and a crisp, refreshing acid finish that lingers pleasantly.

The Landscape Series is a collection of five outstanding wines that showcase the finest fruits of Gabriëlskloof's vineyards, along with some rare old vine treasures. This range aims to provide an authentic representation of the unique elements that define each wine. To capture the essence of the Overberg landscapes, the labels feature commissioned artwork by renowned artist Niël Jonker, celebrated for his on-location landscape panels.

The grapes for the Syrah on Shale are sourced from a single Bokkeveld shale site within the Gabriëlskloof property. The high clay content of the soil allows for excellent water retention, resulting in a riper fruit profile in the finished wine. Another significant influence on the terroir is the wind, with this particular vineyard facing the full force of the south-easterly wind, providing just the right amount of stress for the vines to express their true character.

On the nose, the wine exhibits remarkable depth and intensity, with captivating notes of blue flowers, ripe blackberries, and grilled meat reminiscent of the famed Syrahs of Coté Rotie.
